W. Dan Chance Says:

It is very encouraging to see corporate partners come into the fight. I am delighted that Owens Corning is now working with very visibly and encouraging their employees and customers to join us as well. I remember when we announced that Chesapeake had endorsed the Pickens Plan. Is Chesapeake not a "Partner" with us?

Judy Konos Says:

You should make an appt with Barack Obama and insist that you sit on the Energy Board. Barack mentioned you first on television...None of the other candidates mentioned you...

Loren Gustafson Says:

Great to see that conservation is in the conversation and that the focus is on the unifying mission of reducing America's use of foreign oil, not on any division about specific tactics. If people see that conserving makes good sense they will support it and do it. Now, what do we do about crude oil falling back to $40 a barrel?

Don Says:

General Electric as a major producer of wind energy would also make a great corporate partner. I am all in favor of corporate support in addition to government support.

Ryan P. Says:

"what do we do about crude oil falling back to $40 a barrel?" Nothing. Looks to me like its just OPEC trying to derail the conservation effort with a short term price drop. It can't last given the rising levels of crude consumption in India and China. Spike supply without changing demand and cost goes down, short term. I thought I read the goal of OPEC was a stable $100 / barrel? So that's what I expect to see.

Jon Says:

Conservation is good, as is insulation IF you factor in air quality. We went through a big program back in the 80's nationwide, insulating millions of houses and changing the windows. BUT there was not nearly enough attention paid to the affects it had on indoor air quality. The results were deadly mold and other harmful things. Air to air heat exchangers, while a part of the original formula, were never used, nor even installed in most places. Creating new sources for generating electricity is a good, but not if it will double the monthly bill of the average person. I have asked you before, several times now, what the cost is of the energy you want to produce from all those windmills you want to build and I am still waiting for an answer. I like geothermal and Yellowstone is by far the best place to tap, but I've never heard it mentioned anywhere. Not many realize that Yellowstone is in fact a super volcano, largest in the world, that there used to be a mountain there. The last eruption was so huge it left only a valley. But the potential for energy, electrical, production is also huge. And the end/retail cost to the consumer should be far less than from a windmill. They same type of potential exists on the Pacific Coast, from northern California up into Alaska. And speaking of conservation, what are you doing in the area of Co-Generation? Do you have any idea how much usable energy there is to be found in that arena? I know your big focus in on windmills, and windmills are great in many ways, but don't trip over dollars just to pick up pennies because they are shiny and look good. We could also be powering millions of vehicles using nothing more than mechanical systems, gears, and flywheels, the technology is already proven and has been around for years, decades.

good news about corning; know with president obama's plan in support of all pickens army, more will come

Joe Rogers Says:

There's power in numbers. I'm very encouraged that Owens Corning is a corporate partner. Joe Rogers Fitzgerald, Georgia

Janis Spath Says:

Great news about Corning! Also, what about the Electrical grid infastructure. Sure hope that gets on the table. We can generate energy from so many sources but distribution has been a problem. The more we use localized energy the more important it will be to have the grid that is able to accept excess capacity and redistribute it.

stephen r may Says:

Well today OPEC cut production again, even though the world is in economic turmoil. This should make all of us realize that OPEC is not concerned about the world ression. This should reinforce our need to be independent from foreign oil. It should make all of us angry including our elected officials on how they control us with there oil. We didn't see any emergency meetings when it was at $147 dollars a barrell. I can't wait until the day we tell them to choke on there oil. steve may

Bob Siegel Says:

Involving businesses like Corning is brilliant. Boone's approach should appeal to people of all political views; natural gas is cleaner and that should appeal to the environmentalists, it is available in the U.S. and that is a big opportunity for national security, and it involves major capital investment with a huge positive return for the capitalists. Bravo to Corning for recognizing the business role!

sandi umble Says:

i am so happy that owens corning is getting with the PICKENS PLAN...we must NOT lose sight of this new direction that we want to go in.. It will be tempting for many folks to ignore trying to get off oil, since the prices are CURRENTLY DOWN, but as we ALL know, its only a matter of time ,before the oilcountries have us AGAIN in a strangle hold with the oil prices going up again.. we MUST SUCEED THIS TIME! SANDI UMBLE. HOLDEN, ME.

Roger Belanger Says:

Yes

Chad Deal Says:

Congratulations T. Boone and Corning. Let this be the beginning of many more such partnerships. This should be a great infusion into the movement. Chad

Christian Says:

Finally a cooperate partner... I've been waiting so long for this.

Jery D Clark Says:

well that is good news, we all know that the more we produce the cheaper it becomes, If we wait until renewable sources of energy become "CHEAPER" than oil, coal and natural gas, we will never get out of this rut. The first computers were a lot more expensive and less usable than now, what if we had waited?

jerry thomas Says:

its about time that the big companys decided to push the effert to help safe this planet by being part of the big green movement. i have always used the best insullation available, guess which one(only kidding) my self and all the companys which i have worked for have always recycled all that was available, oils, batterys, paper plastic. with all the new resources for a cleaner better energy source i see no reason why any big company sould not join with the fight to save energy and the planet

Russell Miller Says:

Spectacular, Thank You Mike Thaman. Our Country and our Children will truly benefit from the actions we are taking today.

Richard H.Pierce Says:

I sincerely believe that Mr.Pickens and those who believe in the cause could help immensley to relieve the passion for foreign oil.The possibilities are such that the formula should have been followed years ago.We would not have the present problem if this had been done.I also believe that there are many other "like" instances and solutions which need ezploring to the fullest. Above all, please keep politics out of it and our country will become our own in the future. Thank you for your time.

Ike Bailey Says:

I don't care if oil goes to $10.00 a barrel. Screw those guys over in OPEC. We also can stop the pollution by using CNG. Tell OPEC to take a bath in it. We need to think forward.

Steven Nowak Says:

As a computer tech for over 30 years I can tell you this, words are nice they sound good, but you need an interactive plan to move forward. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs did this in the Carter years when the economy is many times worse than today. How?....they had technology to move forward to eliminate large existing computer costs with the development of the pc. Millions of jobs were created due to this tehnology. The PP plan sounds good, however, they need an interactive technology that voices the masses. The only way Boone, future partners and members can succeed, is to have the YouTube, Google, Yahoo, etc. a forum on the Internet in real-time to allow passion, technology, and members to interact and prove their results and move forward to maintain and attract a better movement in real-time "live" venue. Green logic is good, poor interaction is bad. Boone spent millions of his own money on T.V. illustrating his passion. He now has 1.5 million plus members that signed on to the PP plan, but they are all individuals. This is a great thing, however, but the movement is slow to move forward since they all have no powerfull unity. I'll make it clear. I want the PP plan to succeed. I have the technology to make his dream and followers to make that happen. Call me T. Boone. WWW.wirelesscam.biz. Steven NowaK 262-679-0488 262-844-0524 cell

Kendall Hale Says:

Hello: I agree with the above comment. We must build asap on the grassroots movement that put Obama in office. Americans are still excited and hopeful about change and ready to move forward. I am not very technical and tend to resist relying on technology to save the planet, but if communicating in real time would help our movement build a winning strategy, then let's give it a try!

Dominique Durbin Says:

It is exciting to see Boone bringing in corporate partners. I would like for my company to be the fifth corporate partner. I say fifth because it would be more beneficial to see Detroit's Big 3 fill the second, third, and fourth slots. My company is the largest ground source geothermal drilling company in Illinois and a close runner up to being the largest in the Midwest. We install ground source closed geothermal loops to provide the most efficient means of heating and cooling residential, municipal, and commercial buildings in Illinois and the surrounding states. The reason for my taking a back seat in importance to the Big 3 is simple. The Big 3 are struggling financially and asking the Federal government for assistance. They are asking for loans to retool their plants. Many Americans have differing ideas on the concept of government involvement in private industry. The fact is, regardless of opinion, we need to keep the auto industry not only alive, but strong. Here is an idea: Let's GIVE them the money to retool. 15 Billion or 150 Billion, it really does not matter what the upfront cost is. The catch is what they are to do with it. They should use the money to retool the plants to produce CNG vehicles. We all know technology is out there to make cars that run off of something other than gasoline or diesel fuel. The problem is that gas stations are not set up to deal with fuel cells, soy oils, or any other means of keeping the new vehicles going. There has been no real consensus on what to build to replace traditional oil based fuels. If the Big 3 bands together and says "We are going with CNG" consumers will buy them. Oil companies and fuel station owners will set up the infrastructure to support CNG vehicles. Consumers will not be afraid to buy for fear that they have purchased a "fad." Personally, in 2004 I bought a new Dodge car. I promised myself that the next car I buy would not burn gas. I was in honest hopes that leaders in the auto industry would see the dangers of importing so much of our fuels and provide a solution by the time my car needed replaced. I plan to keep my promise. I truly hope that Boone will be able to bring the Big 3 on board by the time my car is worn out. Thanks for reading my thoughts, Dom Durbin Durbin Enterprises, Inc. Beecher City, IL USA

Hunter Johnson Says:

Fantastic, we need a consolidated effort to relieve our dependency on foreign oil and I believe corporate sponsorship is a great step forward in the successful implementation of our dream. Now let's make our dream a reality as we assemble one of the most resourceful teams in the world. I'm waiting for Academic sponsorship to help offer the research "brain power" to augment our team. Great job Mr. Pickens, keep up the inspiring work and I welcome Owens Corning and the leadership of Mr. Mike Thaman to our army. Happy Holidays! Now let's make 2009 a great leap forward in our efforts...

Ann Flaherty Says:

I am thrilled that the Pickens Plan welcomed Owens Corning as the first corporate partner to the Army. It brings another aspect to this issue of energy independence. If we can reduce our energy dependence and promote the conservation of how that energy is used we can reach our goal far quicker. Thank you to the leaders of Owens Corning for recognizing a good idea and partnering with the Pickens Plan. And as always, thank you Boone for your continued effort towards making this plan a reality for us and for our children.

Pat Jack Says:

Owens Corning has a lobby in Washington, let's look sharp. If this is just the beginning of corporate partners then the voices will be from the the aisle and the lobby, then maybe the politicians will be shown what to do.

marvin l havlat Says:

James Everitt Says:

Clean Energy Should Be Our Cause! America needs a cause, an uplifting and nonpartisan mission, which harnesses our courage, patriotism, innovation and willingness to sacrifice to build a better future for our kids. A Blueprint for American Energy Renewal: http://www.thestreet.com/tsc/common/images/pdf/renewamerica_bonds2.pdf We are tired of rote partisanship and long for a defining cause greater than consumerism. We are in awe of and inspired by the World War II generation and the Civil Rights crusaders that came together, sacrificed and defeated common enemies and left a legacy of pride and prosperity for their children and grandchildren. We need to declare our independence from oil, rebuild our industrial economy and reestablish our national prestige. We can do this with our own savings, and profit handsomely from the economic transformation. The idea that I'm advocating, conceived together with my friend, H.B. Mertz, a small business owner from McMurray, Pennsylvania, is a special government bond like the war bonds issued during World War II. This time, the cause supported by the bonds would be Clean Energy http://www.cleanenergyfuels.com/main.html. The Renew America Bonds http://www.nreca.org/Documents/PublicPolicy/CleanRenewableEnergyBonds.pdf we propose are, in essence, 30-year, zero-coupon U.S. government bonds, with principal redeemable at maturity or convertible to a payout based on the long-term performance of America's clean energy economy. The Renew America bonds would be marketed like War bonds were in World War II, from the President, through Wall Street, down to the classrooms across America. The proceeds of these bonds would be invested in the equity of companies that develop and commercialize new energy technology, through intermediaries like venture capital firms and new clean energy banks. The intermediaries would need to match the public investment, thus leveraging its impact. Bondholders would have a direct economic stake (through the conversion feature) in the outcome of America's energy and industrial renewal which would be catalyzed by the bonds. Purchasing the bonds would be both an act of patriotism and of economic rationality. Productive investment of the bond proceeds would help fulfill our generational duty to leave this country, and the world, better than we found it. Steve Says:

I live in eastern Ohio near Pittsburgh, PA. I am disabled with ms and this is not about my woes and troubles with energy costs, etc. It is very difficult to test, research, etc. with hardly any funds. I hope you can find research centers and monetary support that will honestly support such activities. I contacted several learning institutions and all (EVERY SINGLE ONE) stated that if I were to come and use their facilities to rebuild my EV Gray system, they would lose their FEDERAL support grants. This will not be easy!!! My question to Mr. Pickens and the group is where can one turn to get assistance for such activities. I want to install insulation in my old apartment; money is just not available for this ($1500 if we do the work). It is a catch 22; I just pay the $200/month electric bill and keep the temperature down to 68 degrees. Yes, we need conservation desperately; who will step up to help the poor??? I am an electrical engineer and worked on larger projects for nearly 20 years before I was stricken with ms. I can still walk around; however, physical activities are restricted. I would be so happy to get involved in research and help with this monumental energy independence movement. What can I do???

LOUIELAMSON2000 Says:

Yes, I agree with your Plan. I believe that T. Boone Pickens Team is well educated on the issue! [New Economy- Energy Plan for American people in 21st Century]. American's need a new Economic Revolution as well as a reconstruction period for a new energy Plan, Such as Jobs in America. I also hope that the new President-elect Barrack Obama and his Energy Team will work with congress on these issues, and T. Boone Pickens Plan. Louielamson2000 December 25, 2008

John Howard Says:

I have driven an LPG fueled converted service van for 25 years, with great results. I know it works. Wind mills work. A higher gas tax to keep our money in the USA would work. Geo thermal works, ask Iceland. Solar colectors of many types work. The more we do at home the more jobs are secured even added, and the less dollars we send out of the country the mre we have to spread around here. We need our goverment to invest in our country's future, just like the TVA project. We can do it, wev'e done it before. Invest in what we will need for the long run. Not more houses or more gas guzzeling SUVs, we have enough. Save the oil for what we make from it, which is more than most relize. Oil is a finite resource not to be wasted as an energy source. We have the sun for energy, it produces the winds waves and heat, more than enough for our needs. It is our daily bread of energy. Electric or hydrogen (produced from sun energy) should fuel our vehicels.

LOUIELAMSON2000 Says:

Will American people continue dependence on foreign oil? If so, I believe American Energy Downturn will be not fixing. Without Energy Independence, Americans will not have future economy goals. Neither for short term or long term… Will Americans people, Congress, and new President-Elect work with T Boone Pickens Plan to fix this problem? Absolutely America needs Pickens Plan. “It’s never too late to learn, or to fix a problem. It’s only too late when you do nothing, or ignore the problem. Jan 17, 2009 Louielamson2000

Tim Leahy Says:

AN IMMEDIATE FIX FOR AMERICA'S OIL CRISIS: MPG50 There's not much that one of us can do about the price of gas at the pump, but as a team of American Patriots working together (en masse), we can accomplish much. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSQh4zQcThc We developed a liquid fuel conditioner 37 years ago during the 1973 Oil Embargo. We call it MPG50. When added to gasoline or diesel fuel, has many benefits including boosting gas mileage by 25% to 50% and reducing exhaust pollutants up to 90%. It is extremely cost-effective and widespread use could cut American dependence on foreign oil by 35%. When you buy a $25 bottle of MPG50, you get a $40 Gasoline Rebate Voucher. So you make a $15 profit for trying it. Additionally, with $2/gallon gas prices a bottle of MPG50 will save you 50 cents/gallon, and since a bottle treats 160 gallons, you get $80 more in gas or diesel fuel savings. The MPG50 Affiliate Plan also gives America a multi-billion dollar economic stimulus plan which could immediately put millions of Americans to work with no increase to the Federal deficit. As an Affiliate, you can make a good living wage

Readers may be reminded there's a cheaper, more plentiful fuel for trucks and aircraft. It's tested, safe, and produced by running electricity (generated by local-source renewable wind or solar sources) through water. Read about a proved-and-working alternative-energy plan that predates the Pickens Plan by two decades and is still a more-modern plan, from former Presidential candidate Harry Braun, through the Phoenix Project Foundation links from http://phoenixprojectfoundation.us
