Mr. Pickens, As a fellow energy businessman and American I would be a lot more enthusiastic about your plan for USA's energy independence if it also included a component to reduce energy waste. As I'm sure you are aware, on average, most Americans drive very large cars when compared to cars being used in Europe and Asia. Most folks in this country still see driving a large fast car as a sign of accomplishment. If we are to ever become more energy independent this perception needs to change. Not only do large fast vehicles use more fuel, they also use more resources to construct, store, and maintain. Energy experts often preach that the use of high performance and oversized vehicles is a huge contributor to our nations thirst for energy. Would you consider adding a component that educates the population about how much energy is consumed by the use of oversized and high performance vehicles?
