Our military service men and women know that a great part of what they do around the world is protecting oil. Which is why it is more important than ever that we get on our own resources.

Harda A. Callicutt Says:

Thank you Mr. Pickens. As a 76 year old curmudgeon, I remember the difficulty our nation had at the beginning of WWII with rubber (for tires for the military), and the materials used to make parachute canopies which was supplanted with nylon and other difficult supply situations. My question: who is dragging their feet in your quest to supplant our fuel supply with natural gas. It seems, to a novice, that the reasons you have given for the conversion are solid, reasonable and prudent. Any conversion costs would be covered so quickly, we would hardly notice the change over. Of course Big oil and BIG government would be affected, to their dismay. My main question is what group is the hold-backs. Harda A. Callicutt 2607 Antoine Dr. Greensboro, NC 27407 5909

Convert auto engines and widely distribute natural gas, of which we have plenty, and use in passenger cars in addition to trucks, etc. Our oil resources are vast, use them. Nuclear power important, we need plants. Jobs are necessary to our economy not the "do-gooders". Tom Wagner, 9735 Bay Colony Drive, Riverview, FL 33578

Richard D Abbott Says:

I would love to start using Natural Gas in my personal vehicle. Can we get the Natural Gas companies to start developing the infrastructure we need to have this fuel available to us

JohnG Says:

We need to spend our efforts to build renewable energy before we reach shortages in oil. Coal and natural gas should be considered only as backups for renewables. Our economy will stagnate or collapse when oil begins to not meet demand. That's coming within this decade.

testing first post - go pickens go!

Michael McPhee Says:

I am glad Mr. Pickens goes to the one "group" directly affected by America's need for foreign oil: the military. I am Canadaian and I have owend NG vehicles for over 20 years starting with a 1982 Chevy Monte Carlo. I have always wondered why the "technology" never evolved and you never could buy a pre built NG vehicle. HMMM? In my eyes the Natural GAs industry is thwarted by two of the most powerfull lobbies in the world: BIG OIL and BIG DEFENSE. Both of these business' NEED foreign oil to profit. Big oil for straight profits and big defense for war, as war equals defense spending. I urge all people in the "wes"t to offset these lobby groups by supporting Pickens and questioning their politicians. When I say west I certainly include Canadians and Europeans as OUR countries alos have big oil and big defense ( we "non american westerners" just like to blame the Americans while we quietly benefit from the USA's sacrifice). God bless the troops of all countries who serve

I have seen a delivery truck that had a sticker on it saying, "This truck is green, it runs on natural gas." Every commercial, government and all fleet vehicles and buses should run on natural gas. I for the first time saw a commercial for a company that installs solar panels in homes too. I think it's really working. It's a wonderful thing. Thanks Boone.

William B Stoner Says:

I'm with you a hundred percent! I agree it will take the American people to say we have had enough! But a lot stands in our way! The Feds, the banks, the oil companies! Do you think we got a chance to get there in our life time?

Some new this 40yrs ago!!!!!!!! What is taking so long to get it.

Tony Says:

Look at Clean Energy as the primary source for the infrastructure to be built in the near future. http://www.cleanenergyfuels.com/main.html Also Chesapeake Energy as a supplier of CNG http://www.chk.com/Pages/default.aspx This should help to understand some of the supply chain issues at hand for the future.

Veronica Gold, OH State Leader Says:

It's clear that Boone Pickens is a real patriot. Lead on, Mr. Pickens!!! We are 100% behind you. Thanks too, for giving all of us a voice during these tough economic times. Your views on energy independence are prudent and show grit in the face of the political quagmire that is Washington, D.C. and its "gotcha games." I also like your faith in the American people just when we thought we were only an afterthought in the eyes of politicians. Thank you.

Gary L Ogden Says:

In Indianapolis In, all the gas company trucks run on natural gas. You can fill your tank up at your house, if you have natural gas at your house. You need a natural gas compresser. I have seen pictures of them. They don`t look that big. If you can afford to change you car to natural gas, and not doing it, because there is no place to fill it up, then get the compresser. It is compressed to turn the gas into liquid to get more fuel in the tank. I would think that if you didn`t drive very far. The gas is already under pressure, just not enough to turn it into a liquid, witch would limit your driveing range. I drive a diesel truck, it supposed to run better with natural gas, and diesel together.

NELSONMOYLE.COM Says:

The Feds just put 50 cent per gallon tax on CNG. Like that's going to get people to go CNG. Are they just puppets for the oil companies! In Nevada and California as well as other states it now about the same price of fuel. They just took away the insentive for people to go CNG!!!!!!

Michael McPhee Says:

Hey Nelson, You are sooo right ! All the politicians do is blab about "global warming" and "energy security" but there has been CNG/NGV technology for 30 years that could solve many problems but they wont use it. In the Vancouver area there are about 15 CNG stations so the average Joe can convert their vehicle and use natural gas (you have to fill up lots and have those darn tanks). The government used to give a $2000 incentive to convert to CNG but of course they stopped it. It is sad that Venezuala is now producing BRAND NEW 100% CNG vehicles right now and Canada and the US do not! In fact there is a company right here in the VAncovuer area that is a leader in CNG pump station technology. I spoke with them and 90% of their business is to NON NORTH AMERICA customers. Go figure.

Brian D. Albert Sr. Says:

I agree with you, Boone, 100%. Yes, we the American people, are going to have, and support you, wholeheartedly. Also, yes, we are going to have to do this ourselves! With the available support, of those in our government, who support us. Boone, could you please, post an absolutely complete list, of ALL those in our government, who supports your plan. I believe that this list, can help us followers, in choosing whom to vote for, this November! Most of those yahoos in our congress, now, spend WAY TOO MUCH TIME FIGHTING, amongst themselves to accomplish, what truly needs to be done, MAINLY, in my eyes, IMPLEMENTING THE PICKENS PLAN. God bless, sincerely, Brian D. Albert Sr.

Floyd Eugene Garman Says:

Thanks to Mr. Pickens for his effort, and my response is consistent with the need for change. I am saying simply that one way to get started is to switch your automobiles to American made synthetic lubricants. The Germans used synthetic lubricants in WWII, and every jet and space craft in the universe uses synthetic lubricants. For more information, my email address is ggarman@sunnetworks.net.
