The People, They Are Speaking

This week, the polling firms HCD Research and the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion showed 310 self-described Republicans, Democrats, and Independents the first Pickens Plan TV ad. The participants were then asked whether both presidential candidates should adopt the Plan as part of their platform. The results are startling.

Of those who described themselves as Democrats, 92% said John McCain and Barack Obama should adopt the Pickens Plan. For Republicans, the number was 88%. Independents, 82%.

That’s not all. When asked whether the Pickens Plan was realistic, 89% of Democrats, 86% of Republicans, and 84% of Independents responded yes.

Given the sheer number of people who have joined up with the Pickens Plan in the short time we’ve been kicking around, we’ve known there’s a strong desire for leadership when it comes to America’s energy policies. And now others are starting to catch on.

When will there be a town hall meeting in Littleton/Denver Colorado. With the Democratic National Convention coming here in August, It should be the week before the meeting!!!! I can help organize, send out flyers or what ever you need. I think we also need to put signs in our yards that we support Pickens Plan because congress can't pull their head out to fix this problem. I also propose, a small turbine in my yard to prove how it can work. TOGETHER WE CAN SOLVE THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT THE CONGRESS OR THE SENATE

Another way for People to be heard is to write their representatives and request their support of a National Energy Policy. You may google your elected representative email site and submit your request for support. Attached is an example of the letter I submitted to my representatives. Dear Senator Boxer: I sincerely appreciate the hard work of you and your staff this year as we have been faced with many complex issues. My previous correspondence addressed the fading American Dream of home ownership, affording college education for our children, and our over indulgence of consumerism. Thanks to your efforts, policies are addressing the housing foreclosure crisis and impending student loan crisis, but as individuals we must reject marketing that encourages consuming as a means of achieving self-fulfillment. Unfortunately, if all these challenges were not enough, we as Americans must adopt a “National Energy Policy.” Our dependency on foreign oil is probably at the root of our involvement in Iraq. At this time, I request you and your staff to consider the validity of the PickenPlan.com. I am a bit leery of an oil tycoon professing a National Energy Policy, but his plan has a great deal of merit. The transfer of American wealth to the tune of $700 billion annually for foreign oil will bankrupt our country and my fears of the fading American Dream will be realized. Needless to say, I do not support opening up the pristine California Coast for crude oil exploration. It is time to change the paradigm and develop a plan that rids our country of our dependency on crude oil. I hope you support the full utilization of solar and wind power to reduce our dependency on foreign oil as these are very abundant clean and green resources in California. Your support of a National Energy Policy is greatly appreciated! I am counting on you once again to lead the way in congress to address meaningful legislature that prudently addresses our energy requirements while improving the air quality in California while eliminating our dependency on foreign crude oil. congress doesn't want to fix the problem. They don't care about US they only care about themselves. It's all about getting elected, until it's time to get re-elected. The yes the voters then do what puts money in their own pockets. If they cared they would need to be on vacation...
