Great stuff. Interesting point made from a weird sounding man about, as I understood it, "net metering" rules. I'm not sure if the power companies - retailers - only pay him 2 cents because of just mean pressure or because it's what they pay the other power providers / dealers. Likely just bargaining pressure. That's a good issue, and I've thought it'd distract from the Pickens Plan because it's just small scale, but now I can imagine if people had a fair shake of it there'd be many who take advantage of it - talking about putting solar panels on roofs, wind turbines, whatever - and it would lessen the transmission load certainly, as it's local (complex topic to bring up casually).
Putting that aside, I think Mr. Pickens is off to a good start here, and I hope he is well received at each and every town hall meeting. I believe he's found the most important issue facing our nation today, and that he's come up with this plan and is putting up his own money for it ought to shame those who'd go play as leaders in Washington.
I wonder how many viewers this will get; its really good. Pretty popular town hall meeting.
Did anyone notice a couple of remarks by Pickens and people in the audience about "little bits" of extra energy that might be available? Pickens mentioned in less than a second that wind could probably do 40% in stead of 20%, someone else mentioned that hydro could do the same as wind and I think there was another remark like that.
You realize that when people are saying these things, they are talking about hundreds of billions a dollar per year. I think this Pickens plan is just the beginning; we might see the USA become an energy *exporter* within 10 years if you guys keep up this pace!
Cheers from Australia,

Excellent town meeting. I am in Maryland and will strongly support any efforts by Kansas to generate and transmit wind generated electricity. I think this plan is the only plan that has any chance of reducing dependency on energy imports. That $700 billion needs to stay in the U.S.A.
The "Push the Plan" button on this page is not working. It would be good to have some means of communicating with the webmaster so as to not clog this comments page with web page issues.
Pickens,
You present this alternate energy like is brand new and cutting edge technology. The Americans need to have a spanking. This is the best nation of the world and the first nation that put a man in the moon. Puerto Rico was the first place in the world to have a nuclear station and the ruins are there in the beach of Ricon. The Nuclear station is a landmark and because its shape the people call that surf spot Dooms. Also in another town of Puerto Rico, call Manati there is a house that gets all electrical power from a wind meal and provides electricity to several houses. Maybe the US should keep going the crash course is going and then on the crash then the Americans are going to start believing on alternate energy source.
All this alternate energy is old and the USA is just behind.
