The following is an initial post on wikipedia about a form of OTEC that has many potential advantages. Mist Lift was invented just as Presidents Carters initiatives began to fade, only now is it begging to be properly explored. I created this initial entry when I discovered that one did not exist. Please add CNMI to your map as it is one place that can greatly benifit from OTEC. Graphene is another recent breakthrough that can store the abundance of Hydrogen resulting from OTEC for the benefit of all.

Mist Lift is OTEC wherein a waterfall is created within the sea to operate a hydro-electric turbine. Mist Lift takes place inside of a low-pressure concrete vessel submererged a few feet below sea level. A vacuum pump maintains the low pressure causing the falling water to quickly evaporate. Cold water is strategically injected upwards into the warm mist causing it to condense whereby a pressure difference acts to accelerate and lift the water back to the surface, keeping the vessel clear for new water to continue falling through the turbine.

Mist Lift does not require large pumps and heat exchangers and is much more efficient than other types of OTEC. Less cold water for the same energy output equates to significant cost savings due to the smaller pipes required.

Boone Honey, WHY is it that all your rich, concerned, investor men who sit on various Boards so intent on control of renewable/wind energy development -- the same men who have classically and categorically obstructed my development company-- they have money to spare on playtime? And I mean adult playtime? Are YOU the one funding these gold-gilded drugstore cowboys, or is it Uncle Sam\'s dough? (as is true in for-profit health care)
I found this ad from notorious local executive, Rich John Vann. Take a gander. Through his girth he says,

There is no development ahead of us. Just these types who rape the system. I heard from a little birdie that Russia wants to buy GE on the heals of the scrapped Eastern European missile defense program. And you wanted to privatize the grid. You would have given away the sovereignty of the entire United States. Shame on you, Boone!!!!

Dear Boone,

A.L. Lamar Wind Energy Technology wants to persuade you to broker some of your displaced GE equipment here in Texas. If it serves your interests, we can explore a future limited licensing agreement to supply GE manufactured equipment.
I am a DOE CCR registered and approved contractor who will negotiate a fair price standard (plus your commission) by transferring Federal Grant money presently pending approval by the Finance Committee in order to initiate business activity, and would look forward to conducting good American business with my Government and your firm, GE.

I haven\'t heard or seen anything on this site discussing Ethanol as and alternative energy source. If I\'ve missed it, please let me know where it it is. If not, what about it? There are plenty of ways to make alcohol and it is renewable without wasting good farm land to do it. We could grow the scource material along the highways we drive on.

How do we ensure that H.R. 1835 (NAT GAS Act of 2009) doesn\'t flounder or die in committee? We need an action plan to encourage the Committee members to keep the bill moving forward. What would be the best way for the movement to accomplish that end? I don\'t think that just sending emails to our own legislators is sufficient, we need to be communicating daily with all the committee members to convince this to move it through the process.

This organization is dedicated to the return of traditional Indian values. This is to be done by a sailing program on the water to return to a family oriented program by sailing. Sailing promotes the union of water, earth, and sky using the wind spirit to power the boat. This organization is that sailing is for all and affordable.
The organization will use a salability plan as proven by Access Dinghy Corporation located in Dandong Australia. The safety manual from salability will provide the structure to accomplish our objective that sailing is for everyone. Everyone is encouraged to participate in this activity including the setting up-sailing-and putting away the boats.

In the above picture, the salability is operating. The davit or “C CRANE” (next to the red sail) is used to hoist people with disabilities in and out of the boats with able bodied volunteers. The dock master is supervising directing the operation while a safety boat is deployed on the water for any problems that may arise while the boats are on the water sailing. After the boats are put away there is always a critique of the day to document problems and the solutions. The boats are Access Sailing Dinghy which this organization will use initially the “Access 303” as a starting boat with one boat having joy stick assisted for disabled persons.
This boat is designed for instruction on sailing with a high degree of stability. This way the sport of sailing is introduced as a family sport promoting family values.

COORDINATOR
I Robert Xavier Betancourt Junior will be the coordinator in representing the sponsor to make sure that organization correctly set and functioning as a Salability program.
ORGANIZATION
This organization will have five key officers. They are Commodore, Vice Commodore, Treasurer, Boson, and Secretary.

DUTIES
COMMODORE
First Officer is responsibility to the overall operation and cosigns all disbursements with the Treasurer.
VICE COMMODORE
Acts in place of the commodore and is responsible for membership and outreach programs also the racing program.
BOSON
This officer is in charge of the boats and the maintenance program. He certifies people to be skippers to run sailing days and is in charge of the sailing school.
TREASURER
This officer is in charge of the finances and gives a monthly report on the club’s status.
SECRETARY
The Secretary reports the general meeting minutes and committee minutes. This officer publishes the newsletter and maintains the web site.
FUNDING
This organization will have three types of FUNDING: Sponsorship, group fundraising, and retail on the shelf program on the website. The sponsors who contribute more than thirty percent of the club’s income will be on the board of directors which must be maintained at that level for five years. Group activity fun-raising will be decided at the monthly meetings. The retail on the shelf program which the Coordinator will initiate will help the members to support the club by ordering items with the Parent company (AMSOIL INCORPORATED) handles the product-state tax-shipping and sending a monthly check of the profits to the organization. In this last way the organization could be self sustaining and maintain its nonprofit status.
CONCLUSION
This NONPROFIT organization is dedicated to Traditional family values by sailing for all.

Dear Mr. Pickens,

The nature of your \"Plan\" that involves interstate transportation is a key to tech-development of simple infrastructure needs that in my opinion begins with the rims and drive-train of these transport vehicles.

I am using this forum to contact you simply because you are an innovator; your rhetoric needs a truly tech-driven appeal that will be supported by major manufactures. I just need a moment of your time....

What do you intend to do about grid stability?

The variability of wind power is causing havoc with the grid all across the wind corridor. The idea of \"negative priced energy\" was a foreign concept three years ago, and now nearly 3% of the time we see energy sold at negative value (i.e. the power company PAYS someone to take energy by the MWh). When the wind blows at 3:00 am, there\'s no customers for the energy that is produced, and it threatens the grid if it isn\'t distributed.

You MUST have a solution for grid stability before you could push this plan.

One great solution for grid stability happens to also mitigate global warming and produce liquid fuels: WindFuels.

Just electrolyze water to produce hydrogen, then use that hydrogen with waste CO2 to produce fuels in a modified FTS reactor. It takes energy, but the electrolyzers can respond in milliseconds to the energy needs, so power companies can control the electrolyzers to stablize the grid in return for advantageous pricing on the energy (low cost energy is better than paying $200/MWh to get rid of it).

THEN you can expand wind energy penetration into the energy portfolio without causing more problems than you try to solve... and we\'ll have more domestic fuel at the same time.

Why did you say that we shouldn\'t retrofit existing vehicles to CNG?
The rest of the world is doing it so why don\'t we.
Abandoned car dealerships could be utilized for this project and abandoned gas stations could be converted to CNG...both \'shovel ready\' projects.
President Obama did not mention CNG once in his press conference this morning...very depressing!

There\'s been some advances in photovoltaic cells, making the solar energy collectors thinner and flexible. Would it make sense to also install solar collectors on the sunny sides of the wind tubine towers? There\'s a lot of surface area on those hugh towers and it seems it could be put to use generating even more electricity than wind alone.

Maybe your engineers could decide if a combo solar and wind tower would be cost effective.
