Boone Blog: Petition!

Let’s Army up!

We’ve seen the last debate and when it came to energy the candidates said good things. But they didn’t say enough.

Let me remind you that we have no favorites in this race—or any other race. We want all candidates for every office to sign on to the Pickens Plan to reduce our oil imports.

The only way to reduce our dependence on foreign oil STARTING TODAY is to switch from diesel fuel to natural gas for 18-wheelers and fleet vehicles. The presidential candidates have told us they like alternative forms of energy, but they still haven’t focused on one of our greatest domestic resources: natural gas.

We can’t allow them to put natural gas on the bottom of the issues pile because oil prices are at about $70 per barrel. That’s exactly why we have had 40 years of promises of energy independence, but no action—cheap oil.

Here’s what I need you to do. And I need you to do it today. Go to the petition page, where we have put up a petition demanding that every candidate running for U.S. House, U.S. Senate or President agree to take a stand FOR American energy independence.

I’ll make sure your petition gets into their hands. I’ll make certain they can’t ignore the New Energy Army.

Let’s make October 16, 2008 the NEW American Independence Day.

Push the Plan. We need choice and a back up for when oil skyrockets. Don't be lulled asleep, otherwise you are like a lobster in a slowly warming pot...pretty soon it is too late!

This is just about the coolest thing I have ever seen or been a part of. It is astounding that it took a man of Mr. Pickens stature to pull this movement together. We all could never have gotten this well organized on our own. Last night both Senators alluded to the concept but never came right out and called it by name. And likely won't untill they can figure out a way to say "Mine, it was My idea"! I say quit the petty bickering and get on with it! We Are on it Like a Duck on a June Bug!

Mr. Pickens, I get it. Apparently, you are using this so called "campaign" by misleading people to supporting you in achieving a personal agenda, which is to become a leader in the alternative energy while still leveraging maximum profits from your oil business. Lets look at your history. You have made an art form of living off subsidies from the government to invest in your business ventures. (Another classic case of welfare for the rich.) You have gotten heavily involved in political campaigns when it benefits your business interests. Of course you supported President OIL and Vice President OIL, including pumping a ton of money into the swift boat campaign tactics in 2004. Are we suppose to now believe that you are on our side? I don't think so. I think you are doing what your friends on Wall Street have done which is to use us and mislead us to benefit your own selfish interests.

And Mr. Ruiz...you have a better plan and the money to have a campaign of this magnitude that can save this country from getting sucked into a Venuzuelian or Arab oil hole? I think not. Do not get into this site and undermine the spirit in which Mr. Pickens has brought upon all of this army to better what we as a country are entitled to, which is a better way of life for millions of people who have very little to hold onto these days. Mr. Pickens is offering hope, jobs and a means to giving us back our country's pride and ability to stand independant again. What are you afraid of? Progress? We need less of people with your attitude and more of what Mr. Pickens has generated with his campaign. So step aside cause you'll only pull others down with you. Misery loves company, I guess!

Tom, what is wrong with getting off of foreign oil by using clean abundant natural gas and clean wind and solar power? I just can't understand why you could have a problem with this plan. It is going to save the economy, and make the environment cleaner. Of course Pickens might make some money on this but if he does he deserves it for saving the US economy, somthing that neither of the presidential hopefuls, or congress is able or willing to do.

You go girl!!! I tell you some people see conspiracy under every rock. I call them Dung Beetles. If you keep digging, you know what you will find.....no, this time it will Natural Gas.

Personally, I beleave Pickens when he said "Im dead serious about this plan" He's picked up the ball and is running with it. And he's got a good Army filled with hope and a can do Attitude.- After all this is AMERICA. p.s. we need more critique of this plan, because it inpowers us to push the plan.

Im a believer on pickens plan, here is his investment ,he will make a ton of money, that will secury his grandsons future along with our kids future,, HE WILL PAY A TON OF MONEY ON TAXES,supporting him means support ourselfs, so whats the problem for people like you Mr. Ruiz

I like the plan but I understand that there is some concern over the availablity of "Natural Gas". I would like to point out that projects such as the Onsite Digester st UC Davis, California, using wet garbage as the feedstock, and the Gassification Project at U of Minn. Morris Minnesota, using dry waste as the feedstock, and various gas reclamation projects from landfills all over the country offer a usable form of Methane (Natural Gas) that would allow many communities the opportunity to become a gas producer simply by intercepting the waste flow and converting it to "Natural Gas". Investements in these types of technologies can answer the need for NG and help clean up the environment at the same time by reducing the landfill waste volume. Wind, Pipeline "Natural Gas" and Trash Reclamation "Natural Gas" can provide the energy we need for electrical generation, home heating and vehicles.
