<b>T. Boone Pickens says \" We use more energy to heat, cool and light our homes and offices than we do to power our factories or even to drive our cars and trucks. Our country can save over 1 million barrels a day just by making our homes and offices more efficient. That\'s 1 million barrels we won\'t have to import from overseas. That\'s a big step in the right direction\"</b>

Owens Corning insulation products
Owens Corning Fold Form ICF R25 (includes concrete) http://www.owenscorning.com/foldform/index.asp
Owens Corning Basement finishing system R11 (does not include concrete and below grade R values) http://franchising.owenscorning.com/bfs/
Owens Corning rigid foam insulation http://insulation.owenscorning.com/homeowners/insulation-products/foamular-150.aspx
Owens Corning fiberglass batts http://insulation.owenscorning.com/homeowners/insulation-products/r-38-fiberglass-insulation.aspx

Use an injected foam product to 1 inch thickness to seal cracks and openings then lay down the insulating batts and/or the rigid foam insulation. Soy foam, tiger foam, tripolymer are good products.to stop the air infiltration and then the Owens Corning products are used to get the desired R value at the lowest cost.

I say that with an aggressive home and office energy efficiency strategy.
Which includes
1. Made In America Insulation, R24 walls and R50 ceiling
2. Made In America products to Eliminate air infiltration
3. Made In America products to increase thermal performance improvements, (windows, attic venting, window shading) are made.
4. Made In America Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP) with solar thermal assist and/or
5. Made In America products to active and passive Solar Thermal (ST) whole house heating.
6. Made In North America Energy Star appliances and solar thermal hot water

A typical homes energy consumption can be reduced by 85%.
http://push.pickensplan.com/group/geosourcesolarthermalandenergyefficiency
An 85% reduction in home and commercial energy use our country can save over 17 million BOE a day.
Owens Corning products are Made in America, by Americans, for Americans.
By aggressive home and office energy efficiency strategy, I mean investing about $11,000 or 1/3 of a typical 5KW installation of todays PV costing about $35,000 and conserve more energy than todays PV generate.

Cudo\'s to T. Boone Pickens and Owens Corning. Smart thinking by smart men..
David

Boone,

Very nice work. OC is a strong partner who can help spread the word and lend even more credibility to the cause.

Now, I have one comment, made with all respect...please do not stand with your hands in your pockets during a business meeting. It shows a lack of confidence...note the guy standing behind the speaker in the attached video...he looks confused, intimidated and out of place...watch his hands and facial expressions.. http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1842760405/bctid4561767001 I wouldn\'t buy a car from him (or anything else, for that matter).

Submitted with respect.

Happy Holidays,

I am all for this alliance, but honestly, insulation is a great portion of the pollution in home construction and demolition. A properly insulated building, no matter the structure, is an energy saver and that is a great thing. But I would really like to see Owens Corning become the leading giant in natural and biodegradable insulation forms. Materials that keep their insulating ability while in your walls and ceilings and floors, but which can break down and be more environmentally friendly in disposal of unused bits in a roll, or when buildings get demolished, as will eventually happen.
I say, make that a major goal for O.C. and show some real results toward achieving that goal, and I\'ll back Owens 100% as a member of the Pickens Team.

WOW! Great news! It feels like the stars are finally in alignment and people are acting to move forward for the greater good - worldwide.
I am so impressed with Boone\'s pro-active \"let\'s get it done attitude\". It\'s contagious and I am feeling excited and hopeful for the first time that this is actually going to work.
Thanks for the update and \"Go team go!\"

<b><a>The Energy and Environment Team</a>
Monday, December 15, 2008

\"The future of our economy and national security is inextricably linked to one challenge: energy,\" President-elect Barack Obama said at a Chicago press conference today announcing the leaders who will guide his administration\'s policy on energy and the environment. \"The team that I have assembled here today is uniquely suited to meet the great challenges of this defining moment. They are leading experts and accomplished managers, and they are ready to reform government and help transform our economy so that our people are more prosperous, our nation is more secure, and our planet is protected.\"

The nominees include Dr. Steven Chu, Secretary of Energy; Lisa Jackson, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator; Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality; Carol Browner, Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change; and Heather Zichal, Deputy Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change.

President-elect Obama acknowledged that he is not the first leader to promise dramatic efforts on climate change and American energy independence -- but \"This time must be different,\" he said.

\"This is not a challenge for government alone – it is a challenge for all of us. The pursuit of a new energy economy requires a sustained, all-hands-on-deck effort because the foundation of our energy independence is right here, in America.\"
