Boone Featured in the “Saturday Evening Post”

Boone is featured in the January-February issue of the famous “Saturday Evening Post” titled, T. Boone Pickens - the Man with the Plan

The writer, Skip Hollandsworth, takes a look at Boone the man and the principles which guide the Pickens Plan.

On Wind

One 3-megawatt wind turbine, which stands 410 feet tall, with blades that stretch 148 feet in length, can produce the same amount of annual energy as 12,000 barrels of imported oil. What’s more, those turbines produce no air or water pollution and do not interfere with land use.

On Upgrading the National Electrical Transmission Grid

“What we need is a commitment among our leaders that’s equal to the Eisenhower administration’s commitment to constructing the Interstate Highway system,” Pickens says.

“We came together to get our interstates built. And we can come together to get a wind energy system in place.”

On Natural Gas

Just about everyone has heard the statistics: the price of natural gas as an automotive fuel is not only half that of gasoline, it burns much cleaner, releasing one-third fewer carbon gas emissions than gasoline.

“The best thing of all is that all the natural gas we need can be found right here, not over in the Mideast,” Pickens says. “How can you beat that?”

And, of course, Boone walks Mr. Hollandsworth through the rest of the domestic alternative energy supplies: Solar, nuclear, ethanol, electric cars are mentioned in the article which are in addition to geothermal, biomass, hydro, oil, and coal.

Morris Kent Thompson for President - 2012

Morris Kent Thompson for President An American Gearing up for 2012 Press Release: December 16, 2008 Nuclear Power Plants? The military brought us Nuclear Bombs, and society used this science in a peaceful application of these weapons of Mass Destruction, Nuclear Power. Chernobyl demonstrated this power source could have catastrophic effects when things go awry. We have Nuclear Power plants located on the Ocean, like Turkey Point here in Florida. Turkey Point is also located on the outskirts of the Everglades. An ecosystem that is the bastion of sea life that man wreaked havoc on. To undo this damage Florida is spending billions to restore this fragile environment to its natural state. Global warming and rising sea levels present another catastrophe waiting to happen that could potentially render south Florida and its fragile ecosystem uninhabitable, much like Chernobyl. This fact presents us with another reason to transition our power grid to Solar, and other alternative power sources, and raises the question if the Government has made plans to begin safely dismantling and storing this Atomic waste? Under my plan, converting to a decentralized power grid will create the demand for nationwide employment, reinvigorate the banking system, provide the US with a competitive advantage in the global market place, and virtually pay for itself, not requiring Federal Funds, except for seed money. Simultaneously we need to restructure and retool the auto industry to be not only competitive, but more importantly to give them a competitive advantage in the global market place. Café Standards are passé as the technology has made them obsolete. Comfortably, we can see EV ranges of over 100 miles between recharges and or MPG. Additionally, this strategy will free up a significant amount of the $1 Trillion already committed to refurbish an outdated 1800’s power grid to accomplish the restructuring of our auto industry, with tax credits, and a retrofit program for used cars. Our National Security is in peril due to Global Warming and a financial crisis, both the result of greed and poor management practices. Any infusion of capital from the government should be in this regard, which will kick-start the economy and begin the long road to regaining our manufacturing supremacy and prosperity. Remember, solar and battery power is GREEN, it’s CLEAN, and it’s FREE! Put me on the ballot in all 50 states, and together, we will straighten this mess out, and Strike the Colors on Global Warming. My name is Morris Kent Thompson and I approve this message. 
