On the day before Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States, T. Boone Pickens did an interview with the Mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom about the Pickens plan.

Here’s the link to the podcast of that interview.

And, here is the link to Mayor Newsom’s web page.

Boone, This was a very informative interview and it demonstrates in profound ways how people of good will can work together to solve a national problem. Boone you mentioned Sweetwater Texas during the interview. Most people will never have opportunities to visit Sweetwater but they should because this community offers is a model that demonstrates the benefits of creating an alternative energy economy. I believe that a broad array of alternative energy advocates and representatives of the Obama administration can move action on alternative energy agendas forward by meeting people in Sweetwater. They can begin doing this by holding a wind energy town hall meeting in Sweetwater that among other things will seek to identify action items that people in Sweetwater know can be taken to move the wind energy industry to the next level. Northern California's ability to create intellectual property and Sweetwater's wind energy industry knowledge can and should be combined to build out the wind corridor in a more effective way. From my perspective the goal of creating domestic energy sources and parts of Boone's vision can be achieve more quickly by giving a large audience opportunities to learn more about how Sweetwater created a wind industry economy. The important point is that Sweetwater’s alternative energy economy is a reality today not an abstract promise about something that may be created tomorrow. Shifting peoples’ consciousness and mobilizing society to act requires proof that any new idea or construct can work. Sweetwater’s wind energy industry offers proof on several levels and I encourage people to think about ways they can share this reality to move their green market agendas forward. Finally, I have been creating a list of Green Market Intelligence articles at > http://smecapitalmarkets.net/greenresearch.aspx readers are invited to add relevant items to this list especially articles that can help decision makers begin adapting their business models to produce green goods and services. Sincerely, Brad Smith SMECapitalMarkets.net Austin, Texas
