Boone on CNN

Here’s a link to Boone’s interview on CNN with Ali Velshi following the introduction of S. 1408 - the NAT GAS Act. The interview starts with Mr. Velshi asking Boone about the news that the wind farm project in Pampa, Texas will be delayed.

Boone points out that because of the recession, financing is a problem; but that a bigger issue is the delay in getting transmission lines to Pampa in time to carry the electricity onto the Texas grid which will not happen until at least 2013.

Boone says, in the interview, that he is still committed to building wind farms, but they will be in places which already have access to the national grid.

Mr. Velshi then asked Boone about the introduction of the Senate NAT GAS Act yesterday. Boone said,

It’s called senate bill 1408. it was introduced by Senator Menendez from New Jersey and Senator Hatch from Utah. I was up there with them. Fabulous turnout. Great amount of coverage on it.

Boone pointed out that S. 1408 is a companion to H.R. 1845 which was introduced in the House a couple of months ago and has nearly 70 bi-partisan co-sponsors. Boone explained:

Those bills will come together as the bill that’s going to solve the dependency on foreign oil, because you’re going to go to natural gas as a transportation fuel.

It's all GREAT if it works and we have the unique patented technology to ensure that it does! But how do we get word to Mr. Pickens when his BP Capitol office in Dallas has a receptionsist answering the phone that insists on taking the information down personally? And no offense to this receptionsist, but who in their right mind would actually divulge proprietary things with a reception office ? Unfortunately, this receptionsist hangs aup on callers who ask for Mr. Pickens' personal secretary or e-mail address. How does a progressive, intelligent and caring (about the environment) man allow this type of gate keeper to continue screening his calls ? AFTER HEARING BAD TODAY'S NEWS TODAY about the "problem" with Mr. Pickens' wind turbines inability to show a strong and competative performance of the "transmission of energy"to the grid and to the end user, over there in the Panhandle, I just had to contact Mr. Pickens in the spirit of "We're In This Together", offering our exciting and innovative way to salvage this Wind Farm's prospect for a successful run. Hopefully, this comment will be given a much better reception then I got from the receptionist !

It is great that this Plan is working, but i think he is going to bit him in the butt by not putting some wind farms here in Pampa. The news mentioned that in Dumas, TX they have opened a business that test wind around certain areas in order to put the wind turbines up. Also Celanese is going to become a booster station for the wind turbines. I think that if Boone waits to long to get the turbines up in this area other turbine companies will beat him to it and take control of the energy problem here in the Panhandle. He has to remember that he is not the only one with money and there are other people willing to do what he is doing.
